Saint Seiya

Posted by beanboy on September 26, 2008

This is one of my fav. anime Saint Seiya (聖闘士星矢, Seinto Seiya), also known as Knights of the Zodiac, is a manga series authored by Masami Kurumada, and later adapted to anime. The story follows five mystical warriors called the “Saints” (or “Knights”; the kanji is properly read as sei-tōshi “holy fighter” but the furigana has it pronounced “saint”) who have adopted various constellations as their guardian symbols. The anime series won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize in 1987, but was cancelled in 1989 due to low ratings of the anime. In 2002, Toei produced Saint Seiya: Hades, which continued adapting the manga story arcs to animation that remained pending when the anime was canceled in 1989.

Plot

Six years before the events at the focus of the series, one hundred orphans from Japan are sent to different parts of the world to become legendary warriors known as “Saints”, who are the soldiers under the command of Greek goddess Athena. These warriors are each under the protection of a celestial constellation.

The power of the Saints originates from the understanding of the “Cosmo”. The concept of the “Cosmo” advocates that each atom within a human body resembles a small solar system, and since the human body consists of billions of atoms, the totality forms a “small Cosmo” or a “small Universe”. Each person’s Cosmo has its own unique signature.

The Saints take the knowledge of the Cosmo to the next level: since humans are composed of atoms, humans should be able to use the mysterious forces behind the atoms to achieve super human feats.

The story focuses on one of these orphans named Seiya. He is sent to the Sanctuary in Greece to become the Pegasus Saint. After seven years, Seiya becomes the Pegasus Saint and returns to Japan to find his older sister. Because his sister disappeared the same day Seiya went to the Sanctuary, Saori Kido, the granddaughter of the person who sent all the orphans to train, makes a deal with him to go to fight in a tournament called the Galaxian Wars, where the orphans who survived and became Bronze Saints must fight to win the most powerful cloth: The Sagittarius Gold Cloth. If Seiya goes to compete there, Saori would start a search to find Seiya’s sister.

During the series, Seiya becomes the partner and friend of other Bronze Saints: Shun, Shiryu, Ikki, and Hyoga. As the myth of the saints, they must fight together to protect the reincarnation of the goddess Athena from any danger.

Anime

The anime is based on the manga series of the same title (above). The animation series by Toei Animation first premiered on Japan’s TV Asahi on October 11, 1986. Masami Kurumada has said that he does not like the anime, but he agreed to transfer the manga to anime because of a tradition of making an anime from every manga.

The first anime series was produced by Toei Animation from 1986 to 1989. It was directed first by Kōzō Morishita (episodes 1 to 73) and then by Kazuhito Kikuchi (episodes 74 to 114). The character designers were Shingo Araki and Michi Himeno, and Seiji Yokoyama composed the soundtracks. The chief scriptwriters were Takao Koyama and Yoshiyuki Suga. The series has three main parts: Sanctuary (episodes 1 to 73), Asgard (74 to 99), and Poseidon (100 to 114). The Asgard arc does not exist in the manga and was made directly for the anime.

Other

In the mid-1980s a line of Saint Seiya action figures were produced by Bandai, featuring most of the series characters. The toy line was a huge success inside of Japan, but also in other countries such as Hong-Kong, France, Spain, Brazil and Mexico. The figures have now acquired collector status and the Japanese originals are highly sought after. Some, like Odin’s God Cloth or Kraken Isaac, have a very high value.

In 2003, Bandai created a new line of figures called Cloth Myth. Originally, only the 5 V2 main bronze Saints would be made, in commemoration of the Hades Saga being animated, but sold so well that they decided to continue the line and it continues to sell very well internationally. As of August 2008, there are over 60 figures available, and Bandai continues to release new figures regularly. The line seems to be nowhere near it’s end.

These sites can generate traffic to your web site(s) because the bookmarking sites have a very large community. But the most important aspect of this bookmarking sites is that you are getting quality one way backlinks. Backlinks are very important to have if you want to rank high in the search engines for your keywords.

Bookmarking sites can generate traffic more quickly than search engines because they index and categorize content faster than the search engines. So be sure to have a well planned and targeted bookmarking campaign and you will drive free targeted traffic to your web site.

When you start to bookmark everything you do online, here is a few of the main sites that you should be using:

1. Digg – this site is for people to submit stories that they find on the internet. When other people like your story, they digg it. The more diggs a story gets, the higher it is ranked. If you can get enough diggs your story can appear on the front page with the potential of getting thousands of views.

2. Technorati – is one of the main authority sites when it comes to blogs. They monitor the content, comments and links between.

3. Stumble upon – Bookmarking or telling people which web sites that you stumble upon and think are interesting.

4. Del.icio.us – high authority bookmarking site with a large community

when you are bookmarking be sure to add the correct tags to your bookmarks. This will guarantee that they are seen and will increase links to your site. When adding tags, be sure to pay attention to the format that the site uses.
The two most common formats are comma separated and space separated. Make sure you follow the correct format so you get the full benefit of each bookmark.

Bookmarking your sites manually can be very time consuming. Here are two tools that will help you make the process go a little faster.

1. onlywire.com

Tips to Blast Your Blog

Posted by beanboy on September 25, 2008

Starting a new blog might seem like a very simple idea. After all, anyone with a little determination and basic internet experience can establish and manage a blog. There are dozens of websites all dedicated to promoting free blogging platforms but when many of these businesses are trying to encourage new users to sign up they rarely tell you any of the downsides.

Establishing a blog is more than just answering a few questions on a sign up forms and starting write. Setting up a blog is establishing an extremely personalized web presence that requires some patience and knowledge of using FTP. If you are someone that is interested in trying out WordPress this free blogging platform can be installed on your own domain. WordPress boasts that all users can install the platform in five minutes but this is not always the case.

While many new hosting companies offer “one-click” install options that really will install the blogging platform in five minutes not all users have web hosts that offer this perk. Many new users will have to manually install all of the php files needed to run WordPress. This can be a challenge to anyone that is not used to installing programs. Before tackling a manual installation talk to someone from your web hosting company to double check that they do not offer a one-click install. You do not want to labor for hours only to discover the one click install option after you have done all of the grunt work.

Once you have installed WordPress you must take the time to pick out a good theme. Your theme is going to give all users their very first impression of your new weblog. Having a very plain theme or overly busy theme can create the incorrect impression of your blog. Also, when you are choosing a theme you must think of more than just aesthetics. After you have gotten used to dealing with one sort of theme it might be very hard to switch over to a different theme style.

When starting your blog keep in mind that not all search engine optimization tools can be used with blogging platforms. Many traffic analysis services will not work well with weblogs that are hosted on free sites or are on platforms like blogger. There are search engine optimization tools that have been made specifically for WordPress and other blogging platforms but these tools usually only work with blogs that are hosted on their own domains with premium web hosts.

Do not let these things discourage you and keep you from becoming a successful blogger. It is extremely likely that you will be able to set up your own profitable blog but keep in mind that you will have to invest time and effort in order to properly promote your blog to the right audience. Developers are constantly creating more tools to help bloggers make their blogs search engine friendly so that your blog audience can be increased.

Effective Promotion Techniques for Blogging Newbies

Posted by beanboy on September 25, 2008

So you’ve got a blog and it’s been running for a while. You’re writing regularly, honing the style and content. Your traffic is slowly climbing, but of course you want more. What do you do next?

The obvious first step is to submit your blog to blog directories. There are scores, if not hundreds, of good ones out there, with new ones popping up regularly.

You should also submit to free SEO-friendly general directories. Most of them now have a category for blogs, and often sub-categories as well.

While many of these ask for payment, many don’t. And quite a few don’t ask for a reciprocal link, either. So you will gain one way links (the best kind) to your blog if it is accepted by these particular directories.

Certainly, some of these directories will not last, or they may be of low page rank and therefore not that useful. But a certain proportion of them will grow over time and ultimately become highly regarded by Google. So, if you submit to a large number of them this is bound to help your search engine rankings in the long run.

The best part is that you will never run out of new directories on which to list your site. As well as a section for blogs, almost every directory has a section listing still more directories … You could probably do this for ever and never submit to the same one twice!

You should also join blogging forums. You will learn a lot from participating and if you put your blog URL in your signature you’ll rack up many backlinks as well. (Remember that some forum moderators don’t like this, so you should check the postings and rules first to see if this is okay.)

A URL in your signature means that you’ll be leaving a backlink every time you ask a question, and every time you leave an answer. Google loves forums because they are rich in category specific information, and they have lots of constantly updated and unique content.

Forums do often end up being killed by spammers, however, so make sure that the ones you join aren’t dying. And sign up to a few of them at least. It’s better to spread those links around, since some forums will rank more highly than others.

I would also suggest commenting widely, and thoughtfully, on other blogs. Most platforms, notably WordPress, allow you to put a link to your URL along with your comment. Although there is usually a default setting that stops comments being indexed by search engines (“no-follow”) you can seek out “do-follow” blogs that have this setting reversed and thereby accrue valuable “link juice” from commenting on them.

Finding “do-follow” blogs in your niche does take a while, however. I think a better policy is to seek out blogs similar to your own even if they don’t have “do-follow” and comment when the impulse to do so is genuine. You will get some clicks coming back from your comments, and since blog owners do read the comments you may score a link from that blogger if he or she likes your site.

There are many, many other methods of promotion. But the ones I have listed are quick and generally effective ways of getting quality links back to your site. This is a crucial first step, since as anyone who’s had a blog for a while can tell you the more backlinks you have (particularly from relevant, high quality sites) the better your search engine rankings will be.

What is a Blog Site

Posted by beanboy on September 25, 2008

What is a Blog Site. Do you hate HTML, and you have been looking for a way to get round it then don’t bother any more, for here is the revolution you have been waiting for. It’s called BLOG.

Yes blog, a dream come true for people like me who like to keep things simple and don’t fancy HTML. Blog, it’s so simple that if you know how to operate a computer you can almost start to blog within minutes of your connecting to internet.

So what is a blog? A blog is short for webloging, it’s a personal journal that is frequently updated for public viewing.

Blogs are a great way for others to follow the workings and thinking of your mind, it allows your members to get to share and comment on issues or ideas that you posted on your blog page, and it is so simple to set up that within minutes of your log in you can be up and running your blog without sweat.

Blogs can either be Hyper active or interactive. Hyperactive blogs are blogs that have links to web sites and web masters, the blogger will use the blogs to make comments about certain and views about products or things that catch his fancy and the blog roll will be linked to that website through the blog’s address. Hyperactive blogs are a great way of spreading propaganda for political or other forms of thinking, while Interactive blogs will be a commentary made open by the blogger to allow the members of the blog roll post comments and views on issues as discussed by the blogger.

Finally these simple words need to be cleared :

A blogger is the owner of a blog page who controls everything about the blog he sends out comments and gets replies from his blogroll.

A blogroll is the community of people that that are on the blogger’s list.
So go ahead and blog for all your worth.

Bleach

Posted by beanboy on September 19, 2008

bleachBleach (ブリーチ, Burīchi, romanized as BLEACH in Japan) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. Bleach has been continuously serialized in the Japanese manga anthology Weekly Shōnen Jump since August 2001, and in its American counterpart Shonen Jump since November 2007. The series received the Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen demographic in 2005, and is among the best-selling manga properties in both Japan and America.

Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki after he accidentally steals the power of a shinigami, a Japanese death personification similar to the Grim Reaper. Gaining these abilities forces him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife. The early parts of the story focus on Ichigo and his friends in a high school setting, while later portions feature journeys to other planes of existence, expand the cast to include numerous powerful beings from the afterlife, and are more action-based.

Since its publication, Bleach has spawned a substantial media franchise. The manga has been adapted into an animated television series, two OVAs, three animated feature films, seven rock musicals, and numerous video games, as well as prompted the issue of many types of Bleach-related merchandise. Compilation volumes of the manga have sold over 50 million copies in Japan and reached the top of manga sales charts in the United States. The anime adaptation has been similarly received, rating as the 7th most popular tv anime in Japan in 2006, and in the top ten anime for America from 2006 to 2008.

Synopsis
The story opens with the sudden appearance of Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki in Ichigo Kurosaki’s bedroom. She is surprised at his ability to see her, but their resulting conversation is interrupted by the appearance of a “hollow”, an evil spirit. After Rukia is severely wounded while trying to protect Ichigo, she attempts to transfer half her powers to Ichigo in order to let him face the hollow on equal footing. Ichigo instead unintentionally absorbs almost all her energy, allowing him to defeat the hollow with ease. The next day Rukia appears in Ichigo’s classroom as a seemingly normal human, and informs Ichigo that his absorption of her powers has left her stranded in the human world until she recovers her strength. In the meantime Ichigo shelters Rukia in his home and takes over her job as a Soul Reaper, battling hollows and guiding lost souls to Soul Society.

After a few months of this arrangement, in the sixth volume of the series, Rukia’s Soul Reaper superiors interpret her disappearance as desertion, send a detachment to arrest her, and sentence her to death. Ichigo is unable to stop Rukia’s capture, but with the help of several of his classmates who also possess spiritual abilities and ex-Soul Reaper Urahara Kisuke, he sets off for the Soul Reaper base, located in the afterlife realm known as Soul Society. Once there, Ichigo and company battle against the elites of the Soul Reaper military, and are ultimately successful in halting Rukia’s execution.

It is then revealed that Rukia’s execution and Ichigo’s rescue attempt were both manipulated by Sōsuke Aizen, a high ranking Soul Reaper previously believed to be murdered, as part of a far-reaching plot to take control of Soul Society. Aizen betrays his fellow Soul Reapers and allies himself with the hollows, becoming the primary antagonist of the series, and Ichigo teams up with his former enemies in Soul Society after learning that the next step in Aizen’s plan involves the destruction of his hometown. After this point, Bleach chronicles the war between Aizen and Soul Society, a plotline which has not yet been resolved. According to Tite Kubo, the ending of the series is not yet planned out or written.

SEO Expectations & Results

Posted by beanboy on September 9, 2008

However, what they don’t take into account is how much time and money it will take to get noticed online.

What can one expect from online marketing?

As search engine optimization provides certain improvements in visibiity, it is no surprise that it may lead to products becoming popular and widely used. But can SEOs make an unknown product popular?

As a matter of fact, it will depend on a SEO as long as he makes sure the product is absolutely useful and has numerous benefits. If no marketer was consulted during the creation of the product, the degree of product success will be largely dependant on its quality.

If the product is marginally useful, can be replaced by already existing competing solutions and people can find ways to live without it, it has little chance to survive.

Sure, a SEO will get some visitors to a site and promote the product as much as he can, but he can’t make people buy semi-useless junk and spread a positive word about it.

Thus, if you want to get results from a SEO, make sure your product is useful.

Making as it should be

As SEO’s success is largely determined by the product and other restrictions that higher management puts in his way, the main job is to ensure that everything required online happens. A site appears, it works, converts visitors and a large number of visitors come to site regularly to buy stuff. Sales come and go and everyone’s getting their salary paid.

Nothing spectacular? But without someone experienced online there’ll be nothing to talk about. It takes immense knowledge to do things right from the start and achieve results, especially on a new website.

Though certain experienced individuals can get spectacular results, this can mostly be explained by a good product.

Another reason, of course, maybe that they have mastered the art of creating great content. But even if the site has great content and many visitors, it’d make no sense to have a mediocre product on it, which wouldn’t sell.

In essence, SEOs and marketers, if given no control over the product, simply make sure that there is enough audience to make the company profitable with the product. Sometimes, it may seem just ok, sometimes it may seem outstanding. But either way, if you don’t get your SEO/marketer to improve the product (or create a better one), you’ll only get the audience your product deserves.

Partly, it may be justified by the fact that some SEOs may not take up products that are not useful and possess no remarkable values. Some may even only take on projects that interest them personally.

Time and efforts

Another thing that many people go wrong with expectation on SEO is that everything can be done fast, cheap and of high quality. Naturally, this is impossible.

In fact, you expect to get only two of the three (either fast and cheap, or cheap and high quality, or fast and of high quality, but not cheap).

Let’s take a hypthetical example. You are a shoe seller. You have a more or less running e-commerce website, but you feel like something’s lacking. So you hire a SEO. What he will do?

Most likely, the work will involve:

* optimize on-page SEO

* improve usability to increase conversions

* create great content to get visitors and links

The first two can be done in a couple of weeks, or a month, depending on how knowledgeable is the expert.

On the other hand, creating content and promoting the website can be done perpetually. A month of work may be noticeable, but it’d rather be 2-3 months to get significant results with long-term effect.

If you take visitors and conversions seriously, it’d take some time to study the web analytics and tweak the site accordingly. Considering it may take a week to get results in each iteration, the final site version may be very well weeks or months ahead.

Thus, it’ll be at least 3-4 months before your shoe sales will see significant (150%-500%+) boost from an already existing website.

Sounds like an investment dump? If you consider the ROI that such significant efforts may bring, time should have little importance (apart from procrastination, of course). Especially, when there are numerous examples of offline businesses, which online presence gives them 30-50% of the revenue.

How to set the right expectations

So, you want to make sure you don’t argue much with your SEO about time spent on the project and results. Then you’ll need to consider the following:

* time everything in weeks and months, not days

* thoroughly consider if your product is useful

* only expect almost immediate results from on-site optimization

* give time to create really great content to get more links and visitors

* for substantial growth, consider waiting several months (or more than half a year for a new website)

Read more about things a SEO client should remember.

Rounding up

If you want to save time on negotiation and maintain good mental health during the project, consider having reasonable expectations of what and how fast you can get from a SEO.

As you are hiring an expert, consider doing everything as he says. He’s the expert and that’s why you are hiring him. Talk about how much time and money it’d require to achieve certain milestones. If anything, reconsider hiring him, but do not force him under strict time and results frames – otherwise, it’ll be just another project management nightmare.

SEO Help ! Internal Blogs Links

Posted by beanboy on September 9, 2008

Let’s talk about links today. To be more specific, let’s discuss the often overlooked links to your blog or website’s internal pages, located in the blog archives. When most bloggers and website owners think of links, they naturally consider links to their home page first. After all, the blog or website home page is the most obvious and visible page to be on the receiving end of an inbound link. Too often, the very important links to internal pages are forgotten, and get lost in the shuffle. Their latent SEO power is let go to waste. A bit of link planning can turn that lost SEO strength into higher search engine rankings.

Blogs in particular receive an abundance of incoming links to internal blog pages. Think of every time that someone linked directly to one of your blog posts. As that page moves into the blog archives, that internal inbound link remains alive, and providing link popularity to power to that page in particular; as well as the entire blog in general. Incoming link power is spread through the entire blog, as the pages are interlinked, helping all of the pages rank well, to some degree.

It’s thought that the search engines, including Google, Yahoo, and MSN Search place varying, but high degrees of importance on internal site links. It seems logical that search engines would credit internal posts and articles, as links to internal pages are a strong indicator of valuable and important site or blog content. As a result, they help boost the blog or site’s search engine rankings. Both the linked page and the overall site or blog benefit.

Not only is the link important, but so is what is referred to as link anchor text. While the jargon term is interesting, link anchor text is simply the wording that appears on the clickable link line. Those words that are set to be clicked will often contain keywords relevant to the content of the receiving page. Words like “read more” or “click here” should be studiously avoided, and not be used as link anchor text. Of course, you may want to rank for those phrases for reasons unknown and entirely bewildering. In that case, use “click here” if you so desire.

Bloggers often use very powerful link anchor text, often without concern for the resulting SEO benefits, to describe the receiving post. Bloggers are usually more concerned with sharing information and interesting blog posts, and less with search engine rrankings. With that keyword rich link anchor text in place, the inbound link packs much more search engine punch.

When linking to your own archived blog posts, be sure to use descriptive wording, relevant to the post receiving the link. Words like “read more” or “click here” should be studiously avoided, and not be used as link anchor text. Of course, you may want to rank for those phrases for reasons unknown and entirely bewildering. In that case, use “click here” if you so desire.

Links from other blogs or traditional websites, to your internal site pages, can work wonders in your search engine placements. With the addition of keyword rich link anchor text, that linked page can turn your blog or site into an SEO dream.
